“We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.” - Carl Sagan
Modern technology today has reached a level where the general public have little or no understanding of what is going on under the hood. We live in a world of black boxes with simple button interfaces rarely stopping to consider the complexities of the internal workings.
Built as a personal project, Black box is a series of electronic sculptures that take everyday devices such as a TV, a games console or a HiFi and reduce them to their simplest form whilst exposing their internal workings. The aim was to highlight the complexities of even simple devices and invoke consideration of societies disconnect with the technology it relies upon.
